Spring is a time of renewal—longer days, fresh blooms, and an undeniable energy in the air. It’s a season that feels both hopeful and a little chaotic, as nature wakes up from its winter slumber. Inspired by this transformation, this mood board brings together a palette of pinkish beige, fresh greens, warm yellows, and natural wood tones, creating a balance of vibrancy and elegance. Through a thoughtful selection of materials—like rich marble, soft mohair, and warm metals—this concept captures the beauty of new growth and expansion. In this interview with karen, we take a closer look at the inspiration behind the mood board and how it brings the essence of spring into an interior space.
What inspired the fresh theme of your mood board and how did you decide on the color pallet?
Spring is such a bright, energetic season - it’s full of fresh starts. I wanted to capture that hopeful feeling, but also the chaos and the beauty that comes with new growth and expansion. There’s something about that in between stage, where things are still unfolding, that feels so alive.
How do you balance seasonal trends with timeless design when curating a moodboard like this?
It’s all about using timeless materials in simple ways. I love pairing something ornate - like a richly veined marble - with a more understated texture, like mohair, to create contrast. And when it comes to trends, I keep them to elements that can be easily updated, like accent cushions, drapery, or inset panels. That way a space can feel fresh without losing its longevity.
What feelings do you hope this color and texture combination will evoke if installed in a space?
I want it to bring that energy of new growth - because real growth isn’t polished. It can look a little wild, a little disorganized but when you step back, you start to see the beauty in it - using the layering of textures and patterns.
Are there any specific materials, texture, or design elements you incorporated to enhance the fresh and vibrant feel of this mood board?
I leaned into natural materials like wood and marble, then added pops of color that feel like spring - fresh greens, warm yellow, and that soft blush of new growth. I also brought in warm metals to add some depth.. It’s a mix that feels grounded but still full of moment and life.
