One of the last spaces to get attention in many homes is the master bedroom. This is sad because it represents the place we go to recharge and connect. Tending to the design of a space is a powerful way to get it working for you.
Creating a space for busy parents to escape to is one of my favourite tasks and I was pleased to work with this family who prioritized having a dedicated adult space.
Architecturally, this room had lots of great elements to work with in terms of high ceilings and space to move.
We took advantage of the height to place an oversized, tufted king headboard and we kept the scale manageable by lowering the sconces. The size of the room allowed space for a seating area at the foot of the bed.
Casual fabrics suited the laid back, fun-loving approach this family has to life. Using hotel linens created a luxurious retreat-feel.
We also added some flair with the fabric-wrapped studded chests that flank the bed and provide lots of concealed storage and a graphic punch.
What elements would be essential in your perfect retreat?
